Talk therapy engages the thinking, verbal part of your brain, but experiential therapies address sensory and emotional triggers, helping you make connections and changes in your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs.
Experiential therapy is deeply compassionate and can help you address your automatic responses that occur even before you consciously think about something. Trauma, PTSD, negative beliefs, and anxiety often require experiential therapies for comprehensive healing.
Experiential therapy bridges our thoughts and emotion, aligning knowing with feeling. By creatively engaging mind and body, it offers numerous benefits, including:
Have you ever felt a disconnect between your emotions and beliefs, knowing something is true but not feeling or acting like it is?
• Positive or negative events are stored in our senses and influence our beliefs more than knowledge alone.
• Experiential therapy helps connect our emotions and thoughts by engaging our senses, allowing us to discover, express, and change what we feel and believe.
• Wellspring offers various experiential therapies, including paper collages, mosaics, paint, psycho-drama, garden therapy, and aromatherapy. We also offer Equine-Assisted Therapy, EMDR, play therapy, writing, and body-centered practices like Christian yoga or dance.
Experiential therapy is integrated into sessions at the therapist’s discretion. Clients can also request its inclusion. While certain experiences are reserved for one-off experiential opportunities or within our intensive programs like Restore or Bounce, several interventions are available within regular sessions.
Wellspring also offers regular one-off experiential therapy opportunities. These are open for existing clients as well as to newcomers.
