Holiday Mental Health

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but many of us won’t be able to go caroling or have a big Christmas party as we expected. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have powerful moments with each other while prioritizing the health of our loved ones. We have some tips on how to deal with health this holiday season while also creating lasting and impactful memories.

Set Realistic Expectations

It’s easy to get caught in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Trying to set up Christmas lights, plan a holiday dinner, and hunt for the perfect gift at the same time can be overwhelming. Setting realistic expectations for yourself this holiday season will help you avoid negative feelings and truly allow you to experience the joys of the holiday season.

Set Healthy Boundaries

While many of us would prefer not to have to create boundaries with loved ones, the health and wellbeing of our loved ones often come first. Don’t be afraid to express if you don’t feel comfortable in a particular situation while assuring family and friends that you are waiting for a safer time to meet up.

Create New Traditions

If there was ever a time for invention and ingenuity, this holiday season would be it. Come up with new holiday traditions that you can enjoy, such as sending Christmas cards, make cookies, or even hosting your own virtual 5k.
