As we all anticipate re-entering community life, concerns about the coronavirus are creating anxiety for many people. Even those who don’t normally struggle with mental health stability are finding themselves unusually anxious. Most of that anxiety is based in thoughts about possible ongoing dangers in the present and the future – for health, safety, family, work, resources and more. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation tracking poll, conducted March 25-30, “45 percent of adults say the pandemic has affected their mental health, and 19 percent say it has had a “major impact.” (Achenbach, 2020)
How about you? Is Covid-19 making you feel anxious? To take a brief, online survey to see how the coronavirus is affecting you, click below. The information collected is to help you know your level of feelings about Coronavirus. Your answers are anonymous. The score range is from 7-35. The higher your score, the greater the emotional effects Covid-19 is having for you.
If you find your score to be high, then Wellspring has a free support tool for you. This therapeutic tool, created by Gary Quinn, MD, is called the “Self-Care Procedure for Coronavirus” (SCP-C), and is designed to help reduce negative feelings and increase calmness and a sense of control. It is a simple-to-learn tool (one-session of training) which users can then utilize whenever needed to reduce anxiety about the virus. Through June 20th, Wellspring is offering free group training sessions to teach this take-home skill.
These training groups are offered at different times during the week so you can find a time that is convenient for you. Share this with others you think will benefit! Everyone is welcome.
