Kids are a gift from God and while we’d love to have a rose-colored glass outlook on parenting, we know that parenting is a hard job!
How do you know if your kids are on track? Are they prepared to be grown adults? Have I been able to instill good values in my children?
Our children are constantly being told that they are not good enough. Social media consistently glosses over the struggles people have, making it look as though everyone else is living a perfect life while you and your children are toiling away in a boring, mundane existence. It’s time for these false perceptions to be laid to rest. It’s time for parents to come alongside their children as they teach them healthy ways to develop socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
We are here to help! With the guidance of the book “Are My Kids on Track?”, perspective is one of the 12 important milestones of emotional development for children.
-
Emotional Vocabulary – Can your child articulate how they are feeling?
-
Emotional Perspective – Can your child regulate the intensity of their emotions in correlation to the reality of the situation?
-
Empathy – Can your child understand the feelings of those around them?
-
Resourcefulness – Can your child find quick and clever ways to problem solve and overcome challenges?
-
Social Awareness – Can your child observe and navigate the social norms of situations?
-
Reciprocity – Does your child understand the give and take that is needed to balance health relationships?
-
Ownership – Can your child share and recognize the possession of someone else?
-
Boundaries – Can your child set healthy boundaries with others?
-
Foundation – Does your family intentionally include God and the Bible in everyday life?
-
Identity – Does your child understand God has wonderfully created them?
-
Mercy – Can your child show mercy to others as a result of understanding God’s mercy to us?
-
Meaning – Does your child have sense of purpose or meaning in their life?
Parents, it’s never too late to begin teaching and modeling these healthy patterns of behavior.
All of the topics are covered in our upcoming Parenting Group that start in early September!
This group is for parents/caregivers/grandparents/caretakers of all age kids as this support group speaks to all ages!
